How To Make Vanilla Extract
- at least 8 oz vodka
- 3 vanilla beans per 8 oz of vodka
- Split the vanilla beans with a knife. Don’t cut them in half completely, just score them.
- Put your vanilla beans into a jar.
- Add vodka.
- Label with the date, add a lid and shake. Put the jar in your cupboard for 2-3 months, shaking occasionally.
- After about 3 months, strain the floaty bits out and use while baking or give as a gift.
